Geotab is seeking a Senior Instructional Designer who is a key contributor to Geotab's learning environment, leading large scale instructional design and learning projects, researching industry best practices, and mentoring Instructional Designers. What you'll do:
As a Senior Instructional Designer your key area of responsibility will be creating diverse learning experiences for various audiences (onboarding, product, employee, and partner), managing large learning projects, key Learning and Multimedia initiatives and facilitating knowledge sharing. This involves analyzing learner needs, competencies and data metrics to develop effective learning materials and curriculum paths, while also upskilling team members on adult learning principles, design tools, while making recommendations for innovation. You will need to work closely with external partners and internal stakeholders (Geotab’s Legal, Production, and Supply Chain teams), as well as communicate with external vendors.
To be successful in this role you will be a self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills, and have the ability to quickly understand complex, technical concepts. In addition, the successful candidate will have strong communication skills and project management skills with an ability to identify needs, develop effective solutions, and manage projects through completion. The successful candidate will also be able to manage multiple timelines and contrasting priorities to ensure timely results.
How you'll make an impact:

Conduct Needs Analysis: Work collaboratively with subject matter experts and stakeholders to identify learning objectives and performance outcomes.

Design for Accessibility: Ensure that all learning materials are accessible to individuals with disabilities, adhering to applicable legislative guidelines.

Design activities and assessments that are engaging, challenging, and relevant, incorporating gamification elements and advanced learning solutions where appropriate.

Develop Instructional Materials: Design and produce learning materials in various formats, including e-learning modules, videos, simulations, and interactive activities.

Apply adult learning principles, instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM), and cognitive science research, utilizing Bloom’s Taxonomy, Gagne's sequence of instruction, and Instructional Design methodology to deliver the most efficient and effective learning experience.

Shape curriculum development at the department and initiative level to increase learner engagement and improve the learning experience.

Leverage Emerging Technologies: Incorporate artificial intelligence (AI)and automation tools (e.g., Synthesia, Heygen, AI voice generators), and other emerging technologies to create immersive and state-of-the-art learning experiences, while improving design efficiency. Design badges, leaderboards, branching scenarios, and simulations. Familiar with Twine or Unity for more advanced, gamified learning is an asset.

Visual design skills: Apply strong graphic design skills to create visually engaging learning materials, leveraging multimedia software including Adobe Creative Cloud, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Animate, as well as Canva and Vyond.

Drive learning engagement: Work closely with our learning experience designer and key stakeholders to make recommendations to share internal employee learning for the benefit of external customers on our Geotab Academy site.

Partner with key business groups to develop effective and appropriate communication strategies for learning solutions, programs, and key project initiatives.
What you'll bring to the role:

Bachelor's of Education, Adult Learning, or Instructional Design or Masters of Education, Adult Learning, or Instructional Design Or 4yr+ Degree & Certificate &/or Certification from a Certificate (approved post secondary certificate in education, adult learning, or instructional design) Or (CPT, CTDP, CDT, APTD, CPTD, CIT).

Skilled in the integration of e-learning content with LMS systems, understanding technical standards like SCORM, and HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript for custom interactions.

Modern UX/UI & Prototyping: Proficient in Figma and Adobe XD to prototype learner journeys and enhance UX, Skilled in visual storytelling, motion graphics, and brand-aligned design. (An asset)

Immersive Learning Technologies (Optional): Familiarity with AR/VR tools such as Adobe Aero, CenarioVR, or Unity and Understanding of how immersive learning can be applied effectively.

Experience in preparing and troubleshooting SCORM compliant e-learning packages, and working knowledge of SCORM standards.

HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript for custom interactions.

Proficient in Figma and Adobe XD an asset.

Ability to create responsive, bite-sized, fast-loading content, with a strong focus on accessibility and user-centric design.

Proficiency with graphic design and multimedia software, preferably Adobe software (Illustrator, Photoshop, Premier, Animate) Canva and Vyond.

Technical competence using software programs, including, but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).

Experience with responsive web design, mobile learning, and mobile application development is an asset.

Strong understanding of the fundamentals of graphic design for a learning audience.

Expertise in user interface design for e-learning course development.
-
Strong negotiation, project management, presentation and interpersonal skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem solve well-judged decisions.

Experience using Mighty is nice to have.
