We’re hiring a VP of Engineering who will lead the architecture, scalability, and security of our platform while building a strong engineering team. You’ll work closely with the CEO to align technical strategy with business goals.
We’re looking for a hands-on leader who can scale both systems and teams. You’ll guide how we build, adopting modern development practices and applying AI-driven workflows like code generation, automated testing, and smart documentation to keep Atlas at the forefront of software innovation.
This is a key leadership role for someone with deep technical expertise, a founder-level mindset, and a strong track record of building and scaling high-performance teams and systems.
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the technical vision and architecture across all Atlas products.
- Build and scale a high-performing engineering team: hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and creating strong feedback and accountability systems.
- Lead system development in Python/Django/React, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Oversee complex third-party integrations with fintech partners, POS systems, scheduling, and payroll tools.
- Drive SOC 2 compliance and implement strong, secure engineering practices for handling sensitive financial data.
- Oversee and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and release workflows.
- Manage and scale technical operations, including systems for handling a high volume of daily user support requests.
- Integrate modern AI tools and automation practices into development workflows to elevate team productivity and velocity.
- Champion engineering best practices across code quality, system design, and developer enablement.
- Actively evaluate emerging technologies and incorporate those that give Atlas a competitive edge.

Technical expertise
Must Haves:
- Strong architectural thinking and systems design across backend, frontend, and infrastructure
- Experience in hiring, building and mentoring engineering teams

- Familiarity with frontend technologies such as ReactJS, with ability to manage full-stack development
- Deep understanding of PostgreSQL, Docker, Celery, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or similar)
- Hands-on experience implementing security and compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2) in fintech or sensitive data environments
- Interest in exploring emerging technologies and AI-assisted development workflows to improve engineering velocity
- Ability to scale internal tooling and architecture for rapid multi-product growth
Nice to Haves:
- Leading teams working in Python (Django/DRF), even if not personally writing day-to-day code
- Experience managing or collaborating with ML, data, or AI/automation-focused teams
- Familiarity with mobile development frameworks such as React Native
- Exposure to infrastructure-as-code, observability tooling, and modern DevOps practices
