The primary focus of the Manager, Client Relationship Sales is to build an industry-leading client experience and sales team, that develops and builds relationships with our most valued clients so that they want to invest and grow their financial future with Wealthsimple. This leader works in tight collaboration with Sales leadership, Sales Operations, and Growth Marketing to drive us to grow faster than any other financial services company in Canada.
Today the financial services industry is an oligopoly dominated by five big banks. They charge high fees, and provide poor service to clients with less than $3M in net worth. Additionally over $2T in assets are in the Wealth Management sector and a large portion of these assets are investing with high fees and poor returns. About the role
One of Wealthsimple's valued client segments is its Active Trader group. Often the approach to win these clients is different, and requires relationship building to establish trust with the need for more negotiation than our core clients, as their revenue potential usually allows them to demand preferred pricing with premier service.
We are looking for an experienced sales leader with a strong trading background to help expand our Active Trader client base. Reporting to the Senior Director, Sales you will be responsible to lead and mentor a team of Relationship Managers (RMs) who focus on acquiring, retaining, and growing high-value client segments, specifically Active Trading clients and High Net Worth (HNW) individuals.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:- Leadership Responsibilities: Lead and scale a newly established Relationship Management team focused on driving growth within our Active Trader segment.
- Performance Oversight: Manage the daily activities and KPIs of the relationship management team, ensuring they meet and exceed sales and relationship quality targets.
- Coaching & Development: Conduct regular one-on-one sales coaching sessions, pipeline reviews, and joint client calls to train the team in advanced relationship-based sales techniques, product knowledge, and compliance.
- Recruitment & Retention: Participate in hiring, onboarding, and continuous professional development for all team members.
- Strategy Execution: Develop and implement sales strategies specifically tailored to the Active Trader and HNW segments, focusing on long-term client longevity and increasing share of wallet.
- Quota Attainment: Own your team revenue targets, metrics and performance, optimizing for sales funnel conversion, and pipeline management.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Sales Operations, Growth Marketing, Product Development, and Trading teams to ensure the sales team has the most relevant tools and competitive offerings.
- Compliance: Ensure all team activities, client onboarding, and sales practices strictly adhere to industry regulatory requirements and internal compliance standards.
- Reporting: Track and analyze team sales data, client churn rates, and relationship health metrics to provide accurate forecasting and reporting to senior management.
- Risk Mitigation: Oversee and review client interactions to ensure guardrails around registrable activities are maintained.
What you'll bring:- People Management: 5+ years of experience leading and growing a sales team
- Industry Experience: understands the active trader client segment, and can proficiently converse as a subject matter expert
- Client Centric: Always put the client first, with a deep desire to help people
- Goal Oriented: is very driven and has experience working and delivering against hard targets
- Analytical: proactively uncovering insights through data to drive recommendations
- Attitude: has a positive can-do attitude and be adaptable to evolving business goals
- Strong communication: to clearly articulate the the strategy and proper sales approach
- Team Collaboration: ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders
- Self Starter: as a newly established team, being creative with an entrepreneurial mindset is key
- Resilient: can demonstrate resourcefulness to persevere in the face of adversity
