We’re looking for our next Senior Residential Mortgage Underwriter. Could It Be You?
The Senior Residential Mortgage Underwriter is responsible for successfully contributing to overall portfolio growth and maximizing profitability in an environment focused on operational and service excellence.
The role is responsible for the full credit adjudication process from decisioning mortgage applications based on established lending criteria along with the review and fulfillment of the mortgage conditions. This includes exception management, pricing determinations and documentation review and acceptance all while meeting performance targets and ensuring adherence to service standards.

In this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Successfully contributing to the Residential Lending results, ensuring growth and profitability targets are being met.

Maintaining knowledge of Quetbank’s residential mortgage underwriting policies, procedures, and products.
-
Negotiating, structuring, and evaluating received mortgage applications according to internal policies.
-
Managing portfolio risk by exercising consistent, objective and sound credit decisions within authorized limits, escalating with rationale to support recommendation where appropriate.

Issuing mortgage commitments with appropriate conditions.
-
Reviewing and deciding on mortgage documentation to ensure each document is complete and accurate based on Quetbank’s credit policies, procedures, and anti-money laundering requirements.

Instructing files to FCT and working together with Residential Funding to ensure timely closings.
-
Effectively partnering with Partner Experience to deliver top of class experience to our partners.

Working in collaboration with the Credit Quality Assurance and Funding teams to ensure targets are being met.

Maintaining up to date knowledge of the competition, industry trends and market conditions.
-
Ensuring accurate record keeping and that all records are stored and retained to meet Company standards.

Identifying continuous improvement opportunities.
-
Following AML procedures on all files with an emphasis on “Know Your Client” rules.
-
Proactively identifying actual and potential violations of AML regulatory requirements, internal policies and procedures or other AML/ATF risk situations at an early stage.
-
Conducting appropriate inquiries and investigations in relation to any such situation and ensuring that corrective actions and/or risk mitigation actions are implemented in a timely manner or escalated appropriately.

Adhering to compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with the company's policies and procedures.

Effectively managing tasks and cases to adhere to predetermined Service Level Agreements

Have 5+ years of experience in residential origination, preferably in the alternative lending space

Have Post-Secondary Education.

Have working knowledge of Google Workspace applications.
Compensation Information:
-
Base salary range: $75,000 - $90,000
-
The final compensation package will be commensurate with the successful candidate's experience, skills, and geographic location (Canada). It includes a comprehensive benefits plan and a competitive incentive (bonus) program for Full-Time Permanent roles.
