Summary
JMA Consulting is seeking a Software Developer. We are a small team of world leaders in CiviCRM, open source constituency relationship management software used by over 15,000 non-profit organizations around the world. As experts in CiviCRM, we take on some of the most challenging projects providing software for donor, membership, event, grant, volunteer and case management. Our growing company has staff in Canada, Australia, India, the Philippines and the US, with average sales growth above 25% / year over the past five years.
We are hoping to hire a new grad with excellent grades (all terms have 85%+ average) and previous work term experience (no work term evaluation lower than very good).
You will collaborate with co-workers and clients in delivering outstanding functionality and experiences. We're looking for an exceptional person: technically adept, detail oriented, and aligned with helping non-profit organizations achieve their missions.
Job Responsibilities
- Deliver excellent functionality for client sites ranging from simple to enterprise multi-tier to SaaS offerings.
- Discuss technical options and best solutions with other cross-functional team members, ensuring all solutions are secure and accessible.
- Estimate effort and risk for development tasks.
- Drive development by implementing new features in WordPress plugins, CiviCRM extensions and Drupal modules with assistance from AI.
- Create unit tests and trade code review and run time testing with other team members for project quality assurance.
- Current projects you may work on include migrating our development and production systems to Kubernetes and Docker using standard and custom Operators, or developing a generative AI frontend to complex areas of CiviCRM using an LLM and MCP.
- Use project management system to communicate work to client and other team members.
- Continually learn and tackle new challenges.
Required Skills
- Excellent programming skills.
- A solid understanding of software architecture concepts, algorithms, design patterns.
- An excellent academic transcript.
Desired Skills
- Ideally experience developing front and back ends of LAMP websites.
- Experience with creating and deploying containers to Kubernetes using CI/CD.
- Developing or maintaining Kubernetes operators particularly in Go.
- Very good written and verbal English skills.
- Proficiency in French or German a big plus.
- Ability to meet outside of regular business hours with colleagues in Australia and India.
- Bonus points: experience with open source development, Wordpress, Drupal, git, PHP, React, Angular, CI/CD using gitlab, Linux command line, Docker, Go, Agentic Applications, MCP, WCAG compliance, Composer, RESTful APIs.
