Our client, a well-funded, research—and product-focused generative AI startup in the video, entertainment, and media space, is looking to hire a Head of Platform Engineering to the team. The team's philosophy is to move at breakneck speeds, iterate, and build top-class products.
You will:
- Lead and Scale Engineering
- Drive Product Development
- Get your hands dirty in architecture, code review and sharing best practices with the team
- Implement best practices
- Create a high-performance culture with top-level talent
Please note that the successful candidate will be required to meet with the team in the downtown Toronto office at least 1x per week. We imagine that as the Head of Platform Engineering, there is a likelihood you might spend more than 1x per week in the office.
Must Have Skills:
The ideal candidate will have the following and/or similar technical background:
5+ Years of experience as an engineering leader, driving and leading scale - you must have taken start-ups through rapid growth
Demonstrable experience leading an elite engineering team
Demonstrable experience making business decisions and driving growth as a hands-on leader
Tech Stack:
Development: Python (FastAPI), JavaScript/Typescript
Database: PostgreSQL
Cloud and DevOps: AWS, Kubernetes
Nice to Have Skills:
Experience leading a start-up through sale and eventually to an acquisition
Experience as a founder
