We’re looking for our next Senior Manager, Credit Quality Assurance. Could It Be You?
The Senior Manager, Credit Quality Assurance is a senior people leader within the Mortgage Operations department, reporting to the Director, Mortgage Operations. This role is accountable for the strategic leadership, operational oversight, and continuous evolution of the Credit Quality Assurance program and the Senior Credit Adjudication function. The Senior Manager leads a team of Senior Credit Adjudicators and Credit Quality Assurance Specialists, ensuring rigorous adherence to credit policy, regulatory requirements, and risk management standards. Beyond day-to-day operations, this role drives the department’s strategic growth agenda, embedding innovation and AI-enabled capabilities to elevate quality, scalability, and efficiency. The Senior Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping program design, organizational capability, and cross-functional partnerships that support Questbank’s residential lending objectives and long-term growth.

People Leadership & Coaching:

Leading, coaching, and developing a high-performing team of Senior Credit Adjudicators and Credit Quality Assurance Specialists, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous learning aligned with the company’s mission and values.

Conducting regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, and calibration sessions; providing candid, timely, and structured coaching that drives individual growth and elevates team capability.

Setting clear, measurable goals and performance expectations; monitoring results against KPIs and quality benchmarks, taking proactive corrective action where needed.

Leading talent management activities including succession planning, career conversations, training roadmap development, and recruitment of top-tier credit professionals.

Strategy & Growth:

Partnering with the Director, Mortgage Operations to develop and execute the strategic vision for the Credit Quality Assurance and Adjudication function, aligning departmental priorities with organizational growth objectives.

Identifying and developing strategies for growth and profit-maximizing opportunities within the residential lending portfolio.

Leading the evolution of the Credit Quality Assurance program, continuously raising the bar on program design, coverage, methodology, and reporting to support scalable, high-quality credit risk management.

Building and maintaining senior cross-functional relationships with Residential Lending, Credit Risk, Compliance, Finance, and Technology to align on strategy, surface emerging risks, and driving integrated solutions.
AI, Innovation & Operational Efficiency:

Championing the exploration and adoption of AI-enabled tools and automation to enhance the speed, consistency, and scalability of credit quality reviews and adjudication workflows.

Leading the creation and ongoing evolution of data analytics, dashboards, and trending reports to generate actionable insights, support proactive risk identification, and enable data-driven decision-making.

Continuously identifying and executing best practice process improvements; eliminating redundancies, reducing cycle times, and identifying system and reporting needs that increase the quality and efficiency of credit operations.

Participating in or leading enterprise-wide and bank-specific projects focused on technology modernization, AI integration, workflow automation, and operational best practice initiatives.
Credit Quality Assurance & Adjudication Oversight:
-
Providing effective senior leadership and oversight of the Credit Quality Assurance program, ensuring timely file reviews, high-quality decisions, and full adherence to policy and regulatory requirements.

Maintaining effective compliance, risk management, and risk controls in the origination of the residential mortgage portfolio by exercising consistent, objective, and sound credit decisions in accordance with established risk appetites and policies.

Ensuring approval decisions are consistent with sound credit-granting principles and within designated lending limits; effectively review and action deal escalations from internal teams.

Overseeing first line of defense obligations, including quarterly Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) testing within prescribed timelines; coordinate recurring risk reporting and identify, measure, and test Key Risk Indicators, Key Performance Indicators, and Controls.

Maintaining a strong and current knowledge of Questbank residential mortgage underwriting policies, procedures, and products; ensuring procedures are reviewed and updated on a regular basis.
Risk, Compliance & Governance:

Ensuring proper implementation of policies, procedures, and controls pertaining to Credit Quality and Adjudication, Anti-Money Laundering, Know Your Client, Privacy, Complaints Handling, and Regulatory Compliance Management.

Serving as a liaison with Risk Management, Compliance, and Internal Audit; owning and performing risk and control self-assessments, new initiative risk assessments, loss event reporting, issues management, vendor oversight, and internal audit support.

Maintaining key internal relationships with Residential Lending, Credit Risk, and Compliance, acting as a senior escalation point and collaborative partner across the organization.

Have 10+ years of progressive experience in mortgage operations, with meaningful exposure to both mortgage funding and mortgage servicing environments

Have 5+ years in a management or senior leadership role within the financial services industry
-
Hold a degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field
-
Have comprehensive, end-to-end knowledge of the residential mortgage lifecycle including the funding process, post-close servicing, default management, loss mitigation, and legal enforcement
-
Have proven leadership capability with a track record of developing high-performing teams through multiple management layers; skilled at coaching at all levels, building accountability structures, and driving results in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

Are a strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute multi-year operational plans with proven ability to navigate organizational change and translate complex operational challenges into clear, executable strategies

Have demonstrated experience identifying and implementing AI-driven tools, workflow automation, and technology-enabled improvements within a mortgage or financial services environment

Have expert knowledge of AML/ATF, privacy regulations, and compliance management with experience leading regulatory and third-party audits and managing enforcement-related obligations across both funding and servicing functions

Have exceptional stakeholder management skills with a proven ability to build and sustain strategic relationships with investors, third-party servicers, solicitors, brokers, FCT, and internal partners with demonstrated ability to deliver best-in-class client and partner experiences

Have strong analytical and communication skills with ability to synthesize complex operational, arrears, and servicing data into clear, decision-ready reporting for investors and executive leadership

Compensation Information:
-
Base salary range: $145,000 - $165,000
-
The final compensation package will be commensurate with the successful candidate's experience, skills, and geographic location (Canada). It includes a comprehensive benefits plan and a competitive incentive (bonus) program for Full-Time Permanent roles.
