About You
You plan and communicate early because you don't like wasting time solving the wrong problem. You believe ideas are best refined through argument and resistance. You find joy in a simple solution and push back on complexity. You know where AI helps and where it hurts. You take ownership, seeking to transform a project for the better, in both a practical sense and out of a sense of beauty.
Responsibilities
- Refine requirements for and create a VPN app from scratch, deployable on mobile and various TV platforms
- Maintain and implement new features for the app
- Implement new features and fix bugs in our Rails customer portal
- Make sure codebases stay amenable to fast iteration and are well tested
- Communicate with non-technical staff
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience with Android development
- 3 years of experience with Jetpack Compose and Kotlin
- 3 years of Rails development experience
- Experience with Android TV platforms (Android TV, FireTV) and their app store platforms (Google Play, Amazon Appstore)
- Experience testing on mobile
- Experience in modern Rails (Rails 8, Stimulus/Turbo)
- GCP, Kubernetes, MySQL
- Strong communication skills due to our mostly-asynchronous style
- Takes ownership
- Comfortable using AI for development when appropriate
