Location: Toronto, Ontario
Our client is a Toronto software startup, founded by mathematicians, building a new approach to tolerance analysis with advanced 3D geometry. The small, senior team serves Fortune 500 manufacturers in consumer electronics, automotive and footwear. Their customer demand is outpacing the product.
You've lived the pain of production tolerance analysis, and now you want to help build the tool that fixes it. As the team's dimensional engineering expert, you'll spend about 60% of your time shaping the product and about 40% helping customer engineering teams solve their real problems with it.
Responsibilities:
• Use the product hands-on, test it against real engineering cases and push it further.
• Bring a practitioner's judgment to product priorities, workflows and missing features, working closely with the geometry and software teams.
• Perform and review tolerance and variation analyses, and assess modeling assumptions against established methods and measurement data.
• Lead technical alignment calls with customers in the sales pipeline and under contract, solving their specific tolerance problems.
• Deliver demos and presentations, scope technical evaluations and explain the engineering value of the approach.
• Bring customer feedback back to the team as clear, actionable product insights.
Must Have Skills:
• Ownership of production tolerance analysis on products brought to market, either personally or as part of the team. That often means hundreds of measurements, re-run many times over a product's life.
• Hands-on experience with 3DCS, CETOL or complex Excel-based tolerance models.
• Strong applied knowledge of GD&T, datum strategies, tolerance allocation and assembly variation.
• Experience with 1D and 3D tolerance analysis, using both worst-case and statistical methods.
• Practical understanding of manufacturing processes, inspection data and process capability.
• Proficiency with CAD and with mechanical parts and assemblies.
• Clear presentation skills and credibility with engineers, managers and customers.
