Baseline is a ‘lending operating system’ for Private Lenders based in the US, who make real estate secured loans, primarily to real estate investors (i.e. house flippers and landlords) or developers. Our platform allows lenders to originate and service loans, manage borrowers and investors, streamline business processes and create technology-enabled workflows that allow them to expand their businesses and improve profitability.
Baseline was founded in 2022 and raised a $2.2m CAD seed round in May 2024. We experienced 400%+ revenue growth in 2024 and are have continued on this trajectory in 2025. We have a market-leading product in our category and have ambitions to become the dominant software in the entire private lending industry.
Baseline is hiring a critical team member to help shape the future of our company: a User Experience (UX) Designer. This is a full-time, in-person position at our offices in Toronto.

You approach every problem by digging into the workflows, pain points, and motivations to understand the problems on a deeper level. You’re comfortable moving from whiteboard sketches to polished prototypes, and you enjoy collaborating with engineers, product managers to brainstorm ideas, collect feedback and refine solutions. You’re detail-oriented but flexible, balancing usability best practices with the realities of building at speed in a startup environment. You’re excited to learn from and partner with Baseline’s Head of Design as you help bring our product vision to life.
What you'll do
- Lead design initiatives that empower lenders with new and meaningful ways to connect with their borrowers and investors.
- Lead the ongoing evolution and upkeep of our tools and design system to ensure consistency, accelerate development, and continually raise the bar for our user experience.
- Own the design process from initial briefing all the way through to research, definition, prototyping, and testing.
- Develop and test copy to help shape a consistent language framework that enhances usability and drives user action.
- Deliver polished, production-ready designs, while documenting your research, decisions and rationale.
- Collaborate with a tight-knit team of designers, product managers, and engineers to navigate technical and resource constraints and bring your ideas to life.
- Become an expert in private-lending workflows, collaborating with lenders, borrowers, and our customer success team to uncover insights and drive smarter design decisions.
What we're looking for
- 2–4 years of experience designing and shipping impactful digital experiences.
- Experience working on SaaS or web-based products, turning complex workflows into experiences that feel clear and intuitive to users.
- Strong visual skills with proven experience using hierarchy, white space, and typography to create designs that look as good as they are easy to use.
- Strong grasp of design principles, usability heuristics and research methods
- Ability to take full ownership of the design process, all the way from from research and framing through to polished, production-ready designs.
- A user-first mindset, grounding design decisions in real needs and context.
- A user-centered mindset, advocating for users while knowing when to make thoughtful concessions for business goals and constraints
- Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain design rationale and build alignment across the team.
- A willingness to learn new tools and methods, and to continually improve your skills alongside the product.
- An appetite for exploring how new tools, including AI, can support exploration, testing, and iteration.
- A bias toward action and iteration; comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

The annual compensation range for this role is at $70,000 to $90,000, with an opportunity for stock options and to earn above-market benchmarks in the future based on your contributions to the continued success of the company.
This is a full-time in-office position, with 5 days a week required at our building located at 507 King Street East, Toronto.
