Relay is a digital banking platform that gives self-made business owners the tools and know-how to be great with money—bringing clarity, confidence, and control to every dollar earned, so they can turn hard work into lasting success. We do this by replacing financial guesswork with real visibility, transforming cash flow from a constant source of stress into a clear signal owners can use to run stronger, more resilient businesses.
At Relay, product management is about outcomes, not outputs. We start with real customer problems and build solutions that move the needle for SMBs, and for our business. Our team pairs long-term vision with rapid iteration. We believe that trust is a product feature, and that usability, reliability, and polish aren’t afterthoughts, they’re core to how we earn the confidence of business owners.
Every launch is measured, every release is a chance to learn, and we prioritize relentlessly so we can focus on what matters most. Above all, we never compromise on customer empathy or product craft.
Why this role matters
Many small businesses walk a constant cashflow tightrope. The average SMB has just 27 days of cash on hand. They’re juggling payroll, inventory, contractor payments, and everyday expenses—all while trying to invest in growth.
As a Product Manager at Relay, you’ll own a defined product area within one of our core domains (e.g., banking, spend management, AR/invoicing, risk, AI insights). You’ll be responsible for delivering measurable improvements in customer and business outcomes within that scope.
You won’t just ship features—you’ll define problems clearly, set success metrics up front, and drive initiatives from discovery through launch with accountability for results.
In your first year, you might:
Own and execute the roadmap for a defined product area aligned to customer and company goals.
Launch and iterate on high-priority initiatives that improve usability, adoption, or financial outcomes.
Define and track KPIs tied to business performance (e.g., activation, revenue, retention, risk signals).
Partner with Risk, Data, and Operations to ensure products are reliable, secure, and insight-driven.
Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and CX to ensure strong go-to-market execution and adoption.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Own a defined product mandate: Define and deliver the roadmap for a clear product area within a pod. Translate customer problems into sequenced, outcome-driven bets aligned to business goals.
Drive initiatives end-to-end: Lead initiatives from discovery through launch with minimal supervision. Make thoughtful tradeoffs across scope, quality, and speed while proactively managing cross-functional dependencies.
Be accountable for outcomes: Define success metrics before execution begins. Track KPIs tied to customer and commercial performance. Learn quickly post-launch and iterate based on real results.
Turn insights into decisions: Synthesize qualitative research, usage data, and financial context into clear product decisions. Connect feature-level work to broader business impact.
Align cross-functional partners: Produce structured documentation that clarifies tradeoffs and decisions. Align engineering, design, and business stakeholders around shared outcomes.
Stay close to SMB customers: Immerse yourself in customer workflows and pain points. Ensure what we ship is simple, intuitive, and meaningfully improves how owners manage their money.
Who You Are
3–6 years of product management experience with a track record of shipping meaningful product improvements.
Experience owning a defined product area or mandate within a pod or team.
Strong ability to define measurable success metrics and hold yourself accountable to them.
Comfortable driving initiatives from discovery to launch with increasing autonomy.
Data-literate: able to define KPIs, interpret performance metrics, and write basic SQL queries to support decision-making.
Structured thinker who can translate ambiguous problems into clear problem statements and execution plans.
Clear and confident communicator who aligns cross-functional partners effectively.
Comfortable operating in fast-moving, ambiguous environments while bringing structure and clarity.
Bonus Points
Experience building fintech or financial products.
Familiarity with payments, banking infrastructure, underwriting, or risk tools.
Experience working at a startup through early growth or scale.
Exposure to AI-enabled workflows or experimentation practices.

You push relentlessly for reinvention: You’re built to constantly ask, “How can this be better?” Change excites you and you drive it.
You crave autonomy: We trust our team with big challenges and the freedom to solve them. If you’re someone who takes initiative, is comfortable taking risks, and seeks input when needed, you’ll find the freedom here empowering.
You own your work: You take pride in your work, follow through on commitments, and feel a deep sense of responsibility for outcomes, not just tasks.
You treat comfort as a red flag: You seek growth. When things feel too comfortable, you lean into change. You’re excited about stepping into the unknown and navigating new terrain to create something better alongside your team.
You care about impact, not noise: You care deeply about the substance of your work. You measure success by results, not recognition and you let your work speak for itself.
You’re energized by complexity and ambiguity: You enjoy tackling problems that don’t come with a playbook. You’re comfortable building from scratch, iterating as you go, and collaborating to shape the best path forward.
You seek out feedback: We value directness, clarity, and respect. We believe honesty fuels great work and career growth. You see feedback as a tool for learning and improvement, and you know that open, honest dialogue is key to achieving the best results — together.
