A note from the founder
Baseline is at an inflection point.
We've built a modern SaaS product for real estate private credit, the fastest growing asset class in the world. Our platform is the system of record for private lenders, which means customers spend hours in it every single day. It's trusted, relied on, and scaling quickly.
What we need now is someone who wants to help us accelerate our growth.
The BRD role at Baseline is the front door of our sales process and the person in it sets the tone for every relationship we build. We take it seriously and we're looking for someone who does too.
The private lending market is projected to nearly double to $2.8 trillion by 2028 and we're positioned to lead it. If you want a front row seat to how a category-defining company builds its customer base from the ground up, this is the place to be.
If you're competitive, curious, and genuinely excited about the craft of sales, I encourage you to appl.
The role
This is an outbound focused role and the foundation of our sales engine.
You'll be responsible for finding the right private lenders, getting their attention, qualifying their interest, and handing them off to our Account Executives in a way that sets the deal up to close. It sounds straightforward but doing it well is its own skill, and we'll invest in helping you build it.
You'll work closely with our Account Executives and founder, which means you'll learn how deals actually get closed, not just how they get started. For the right person this is one of the best development opportunities in sales.
What you'll actually do
You'll prospect through calls, emails, and social media channels (LinkedIn, X/Twitter, etc.) to generate interest from private lenders who would genuinely benefit from Baseline. You'll qualify inbound leads, book demos, and make sure the handoff to an Account Executive is clean and well-informed.
You'll research potential customers and market opportunities, stay close to what's happening in the private lending industry, and bring back what you're learning to help sharpen how we prospect and position. You'll keep your CRM updated and your outreach organized because you understand that discipline in the small things is what makes the big things possible.
Who this is for
This is for someone early in their sales career who wants to do it right.
You're competitive but not reckless. You're resilient because you've had to be, not just because it sounded good to put on a resume. You take feedback well and you actually do something with it. You're curious about the industry you're selling into and you put in the time to understand it, because you know that's what separates a good conversation from a forgettable one.
You don't need to be managed. You need to be coached, and there's a difference.
What you bring
- 1 to 3 years of experience in a sales or business development role, ideally in B2B SaaS or financial services
- Real comfort with outbound outreach including cold calls, emails, and LinkedIn
- Strong communication skills and the ability to listen well, not just talk well
- The discipline to keep a clean CRM and stay organized across a high volume of touchpoints
- A genuine interest in private lending, real estate finance, or fintech is a real advantage
- Experience with CRM tools like Pipedrive, HubSpot, or Salesforce is a plus
Bonus points
- You have some background in or knowledge of the private lending space
- You've done outbound before and have developed your own approach to it
- You're the kind of person who reads about the industry on your own time because you find it interesting
The interview process
- Initial call (30 mins)
- In-person interview (1 hour)
- Mock cold call or outreach exercise (1 hour)
- Offer
Some final notes
We have high standards, we give direct feedback, and we're always trying to get better. The BDR role here is a real stepping stone into an Account Executive position for someone who earns it.
This is a full time in-person role. Compensation includes a $60,000 base salary plus performance-based bonuses and commissions. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and paramedical coverage.
We work out of the East Room at 507 King Street East in Toronto and we think the best development happens when you're in the room with the people who can teach you the most.
We also value trust and signal. Strong candidates are encouraged to find mutual connections at Baseline, especially shared connections with Shaye Wali, the person hiring for this role.
If you're early in your sales career and want to build it the right way, inside a product customers genuinely rely on and an industry that's growing fast, we'd love to hear from you.
