You will act as the team’s technical anchor, balancing hands-on technical execution in Zixi workflows with high-level vendor management and project leadership. This role follows the broadcast calendar, requiring flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays to support major live events.
Responsibilities:
• Design, deploy, and operate end-to-end live streaming workflows at scale across major sports events.
• Troubleshoot signal path issues in real time, including ad marker and SCTE-35 integrity.
• Lead technical projects from scoping through delivery, keeping stakeholders and timelines aligned.
• Serve as the first point of escalation for the broadcast engineering team.
• Own vendor relationships—onboarding, coordination, and issue resolution.
• Document workflows, runbooks, and system architecture for team use.
• Collaborate with production and operations teams to ensure seamless event execution.
Must Have Skills:
• Deep hands-on experience with Zixi Broadcaster and Zen Master, including workflow design across SRT, RTMP, and HLS.
• Strong command of HLS packaging—segmentation, manifest structure, and ABR ladder design.
• Proficiency with video encoding using H.264 and H.265, including bitrate ladder design and GOP structure tuning for live delivery.
• Experience building and operating cloud broadcast infrastructure with AWS MediaLive, MediaPackage, and CDNs (Cloudfront, Fastly).
• Working knowledge of SCTE-35—insertion, passthrough, and in-stream verification.
• Experience implementing multi-DRM solutions.
• Familiarity with cloud-based and remote/distributed production workflows.
Nice to Have Skills:
• Familiarity with stream monitoring tools such as TAG VS.
• Scripting or automation skills in Python or Bash.
