We’re looking for our next Senior Accountant (contract). Could It Be You?
The Senior Accountant reports to the Senior Manager, Financial Operations and is responsible for core accounting and reconciliation functions supporting loan and deposit-related products. Key areas of ownership include deposits and sub-ledger reconciliations, bank reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, operating expense analysis, month-end close support, and audit preparation. The role requires strong financial analysis and spreadsheet skills, sound understanding of the banking industry and financial products (mortgages, deposits, credit cards, etc.), high attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

In this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Perform monthly reconciliation of assigned general ledger (GL) accounts.
- Perform deposit and mortgage accounting and sub-ledger reconciliations.
- Perform bank reconciliations and post month-end journal entries.
- Collaborate with other departments to troubleshoot variances and post adjusting entries.
- Support the month-end closing process.
- Coordinate with tax partners and support tax accounting.
- Assist with finance-related projects and participate in transaction testing.
- Contribute to audit preparation and coordination.
- Maintain accounting records in the general ledger and other sub-ledgers.
- Liaise with and service staff of other departments regarding information requests.
- Assist the Senior Manager in preparing accounting procedures and policies.
- Provide backup support to the Senior Manager as required.

- Have a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance with 5+ years of accounting experience in a related role within the financial services or investments industry.
- Have a CPA in good standing.
- Are organized with great time management skills.
- Have strong quantitative and accounting skills with a background in reporting.
- Have proficiency with Google and Microsoft Office applications, with an aptitude and interest in learning new software applications.
- Have knowledge of accepted accounting rules, practices, and reporting requirements.
- Have experience with ERPs and reporting tools such as Power BI and others.
- Have effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Bring a positive, can-do attitude, using creative solutions to solve problems.
- Establish and build healthy working relationships with team and peers.
- Use open communication and collaboration to solve problems and manage deliverables.
- Have the ability to work with little to no supervision.
- Work well in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and navigate organizational change.
- Have strong interpersonal skills with high accuracy and attention to detail.

Compensation Information:
- Base salary range: $90,000 - $100,000
- The final compensation package will be commensurate with the successful candidate's experience, skills, and geographic location (Canada). It includes a comprehensive benefits plan and a competitive incentive (bonus) program for Full-Time Permanent roles.
