About Clutch
Clutch is Canada’s largest online used car retailer, delivering a seamless, hassle-free car buying and selling experience. Customers can sell their car instantly online using our ML-driven pricing model, or browse thousands of cars to buy, all from the comfort of their home.
Named three years in a row to the Globe & Mail’s list of the Top Growing Companies in Canada and awarded spots on Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50™ and Fast 500™ lists, we’re looking to add curious, hard-working, and driven individuals to our growing team.
Headquartered in Toronto, Clutch was founded in 2017 and is backed by world-class investors including Canaan, BrandProject, Real Ventures, D1 Capital, and Upper90.
About the team
Clutch is an operations-heavy business. Every vehicle moves through a complex lifecycle before reaching a customer: pickup, inspection, reconditioning, detailing, photography, movement between facilities, preparation for sale, and delivery.
Hundreds of employees make that happen every day, and nearly all of them use software we build.
We’re looking for a Product Builder focused on learning and frontline operations — someone who can build products that help our teams learn faster, perform better, and become exceptional at their jobs.
The goal isn’t to build a traditional LMS. It’s to make the software people already use an increasingly powerful tool for training, feedback, progression, and mastery.
What you’ll do
- Own learning and training problems end-to-end, from understanding the job through designing, building, launching, and improving the solution
- Spend time with frontline teams to understand how they work, where people struggle, and what separates good performance from great performance
- Build learning directly into Clutch’s internal tools and operational workflows
- Create onboarding, training, certification, and feedback experiences that help employees become proficient faster
- Use gamification thoughtfully to motivate progress, mastery, consistency, and engagement
- Explore simulations, challenges, scoring, progression systems, AI coaching, and other ways to make learning more effective
- Measure whether what you build actually improves performance, quality, productivity, and time-to-proficiency
- Work across product, design, engineering, data, and operations rather than handing work from one function to another
- Ship quickly, observe how people use what you’ve built, and continuously iterate
Minimum requirements
- 6+ years of experience building digital products, learning products, educational products, or similarly user-facing systems
- Strong product sense and an ability to identify the underlying problem rather than simply building what was requested
- A genuine passion for education, learning, training, and how people develop mastery
- Strong UX instincts and a high bar for simple, intuitive, engaging experiences
- Experience designing products that drive repeated use, motivation, or behavioural change
- Comfort working directly with frontline users and learning how their jobs actually work
- Comfort using AI-assisted or agentic tools to build software, or a strong desire to become highly proficient with them
- Willingness to work outside the traditional boundaries of your discipline
- Ability to measure whether a product actually changed behaviour or improved outcomes
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in edtech, education, learning technology, or training products
- Experience building gamified or highly engaging consumer products
- Experience at companies such as Duolingo, Khan Academy, Quizlet, Codecademy, Brilliant, or similar
- Experience building onboarding, certification, coaching, or performance-management products
- Experience building internal tools or software for operationally complex businesses
- Experience working at a startup, either as an early employee or founder
- Evidence of having taught yourself skills outside your formal discipline
You WILL NOT enjoy this role if
- You think training primarily means creating courses, documentation, or slide decks
- You want your responsibilities to stay strictly within product, design, education, or engineering
- You prefer handing work off once your part is complete
- You don’t enjoy spending time with frontline users
- You value engagement without asking whether people are actually learning
- You use gamification as decoration rather than as a tool for motivation and mastery
- You prefer firm processes over adaptive ones
- You don’t like being scrappy
- You don’t like small, agile teams
Why you’ll love it at Clutch
- Autonomy & ownership — own meaningful problems from beginning to end
- Real-world impact — improve how hundreds of frontline employees learn and work
- A unique design space — combine product, learning, gamification, AI, and operations
- Fast feedback loops — put working software in front of users and improve it quickly
- Competitive compensation and equity incentives
- Generous time off program
- Health & dental benefits
