Our client is a growing clean-energy technology company developing advanced residential energy products that bring together solar, battery storage, EV charging and intelligent energy management.
They are looking for an experienced Sales Engineer to join their commercial team in Montreal. This person will act as the technical counterpart to Sales and Business Development, supporting customers and partners across the residential energy ecosystem.
The role combines deep technical knowledge with customer-facing work, including product demonstrations, technical discovery, partner presentations, webinars, proposals and hands-on support during customer and partner integrations.
What you'll do
- Support sales to installer, home builder and other channel partners, as well as automotive, utility and energy-industry partners
- Lead technical discovery and qualification with prospective B2B customers
- Deliver product demonstrations, technical presentations, webinars and deep-dive sessions
- Support technical product sales to utilities and aggregators, EV manufacturers, residential solar and storage companies, and other energy-industry partners
- Act as the technical voice during customer conversations, answering detailed product, integration and deployment questions
- Own the technical content of customer proposals, including RFI, RFP and RFQ responses
- Support technical content for relevant grant and funding opportunities
- Work closely with Sales and Business Development throughout the pre-sales process
- Lead technical presentations and deep-dive sessions with utilities, aggregators, automotive OEMs and other strategic partners
Special Perks:
You'll join a growing company working at the intersection of residential energy, electrification, EV charging, solar and energy storage. You'll work closely with experienced energy professionals and major industry partners while helping bring next-generation home-energy technology to market.
Must Have Skills:
What we're looking for
- 7–10+ years of experience in a technical, product-focused pre-sales or applications engineering role within the energy industry
- Demonstrated experience supporting technical product sales rather than traditional B2B solution selling
- Direct experience with distributed energy resources such as solar, battery storage, EV charging and/or V2X
- First-hand field experience involving commissioning, installation oversight, site troubleshooting and/or utility pilot deployments
- Strong working knowledge of power electronics, including inverters, bidirectional DC/DC and DC/AC conversion, protection and safety
- Knowledge of EV charging communication protocols such as ISO 15118 and DER integration protocols such as IEEE 2030.5 and OpenADR
- Ability to troubleshoot and debug integrations rather than simply explain the underlying protocols
- Working knowledge of IoT and site-level communication protocols such as MQTT, Modbus TCP/RTU, SunSpec and Zigbee/Matter
- Comfortable working with logs, packet captures, API documentation, and lab or field test setups to diagnose technical issues with customers and partners
What you'll bring
- Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to confidently lead technical webinars, partner presentations and live product demonstrations
- Ability to adjust technical depth depending on the audience, from utility program managers and OEM engineering teams to installers
- Ability to operate independently as the technical lead in customer-facing conversations
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability and willingness to travel approximately 25% or more, primarily within the U.S.
