This position is part of an organization focused on modernizing how commercial building products are specified and quoted. The team develops digital and AI-driven tools that help manufacturers increase visibility during the design/specification stage and streamline the quotation and project bidding process. The Account Manager will oversee a portfolio of existing commercial accounts, ensuring clients receive exceptional service and continue to grow their usage of the organization’s technology solutions. This role manages renewals, protects recurring revenue, and identifies opportunities to expand client engagement through upsell and cross-sell motions.
You will act as a primary relationship owner, coordinating internally with subject matter experts and new-business teams to uncover additional revenue streams. Responsibilities include developing account plans, preparing client-facing reports, maintaining detailed profiles of key accounts, forecasting accurately, and keeping customers informed about relevant industry updates.
Success in this role requires strong relationship-building skills, comfort analyzing client needs, and the ability to deliver a consistent, high-value customer experience. A top-performing Account Manager will anticipate client challenges, gather feedback proactively, and ensure the organization’s offerings continue to exceed expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute account strategies to meet retention, expansion, and revenue targets.
- Prepare and deliver monthly or quarterly business reviews to assigned clients.
- Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities within existing accounts and manage renewals.
- Execute account-based outreach strategies to nurture long-term relationships.
- Build and maintain deep connections with current customers across multiple levels.
- Conduct onsite client meetings and present service offerings as needed.
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date pipeline and forecast.
- Address and resolve client concerns quickly and professionally.
- Provide detailed reporting and insights to sales leadership and other internal stakeholders.
- Conduct ongoing market and competitive research to stay informed about customer needs and industry developments.
- Attend relevant industry events to expand your network and sharpen professional skills.
Organizational Alignment
- Reports directly to the VP of Account Management.
- Collaborates with sales specialists, implementation teams, service teams, and leadership when required.
- Coordinates closely with Sales, Customer Success, and other internal groups to ensure smooth delivery and client satisfaction.
Must Have Skills:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the commercial construction space, ideally working with product manufacturers, distributors, or rep agencies within sectors such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or related categories.
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field and at least 5+ years managing key accounts in a SaaS or technology-driven environment.
- Strong interpersonal abilities and the capacity to build rapport with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Track record of meeting deadlines and quality standards while operating independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence at various organizational levels.
