Location: Montreal, Quebec
Our client is a profitable Series Seed Startup. We are looking for a Product-Minded finance leader who understands how to build an economy. You will be responsible for the high-level financial strategy that powers a marketplace. Managing everything from venture debt and fundraising to the complex flow of funds between global brands and thousands of creators.
This Role:
You will own the financial roadmap. You will be a key voice in defining how they monetize, manage their capital, and how they leverage the unique funding landscape of Quebec and Canada to fuel their growth.
You Will:
• Act as the primary financial advisor to the CEO, providing data-driven insights on product-related financial questions and long-term business strategy.
• Lead the charge on future fundraising rounds and the strategic acquisition of venture debt to extend the runway and accelerate growth.
• Navigate and optimize our participation in government programs, including SR&ED, IRAP, and other Quebec-specific grants and French-language requirements.
• Collaborate with the engineering and product teams to design the internal economy, specifically how they handle creator payouts, licensing fees, and performance rewards.
• Build and maintain sophisticated financial models that balance the two-sided dynamics of a high-volume marketplace.
• Oversee treasury and cash management, ensuring the $5M seed capital is deployed with maximum efficiency.
Must Have Skills:
• You must be located in Quebec. You understand the local business culture and are comfortable navigating French-language government and financial requirements.
• Been there, done that in a high-growth tech environment. You aren't afraid of the ambiguity of a seed-stage startup.
• Understand the unique financial levers of a two-sided marketplace (supply vs. demand, take rates, and liquidity).
• Successfully managed SR&ED and IRAP claims to non-dilutive funding R&D.
• You have the technical depth to understand the immediate impact of a new product feature on our burn rate.
• Previous experience as a first finance hire or head of finance at a venture-backed company.
