We’re looking for our next Manager, Operational Risk Management. Could It Be You?
The Manager, Operational Risk Management (ORM) plays a key role in maturing Questbank’s risk culture. Reporting to the Senior Manager, ORM, you will drive the end-to-end implementation and sustainment of the ORM framework, ensuring all activities align with regulatory requirements and the Questbank’s risk appetite.
As a critical member of the Second Line of Defense (2LoD), you will provide robust oversight, review, and challenge to First Line business units, ensuring operational risks are proactively identified, assessed, and mitigated across the organization.
The Manager, ORM will contribute to fortifying the 2nd Line of Defense to provide effective risk review and challenge of the 1st Line’s management of operational risk.

In this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Assisting in the advancement of Questbank’s Operational Risk Program through a strategically developed roadmap including the design and operationalization of an ORM framework, policy, standards, processes and tools to support operational resilience.

Aligning ORM practices to regulatory requirements including OSFI E-21. Proactively anticipating regulatory changes that need to be reflected in compliance.

Collaborating with the business to identify and assess operational risks.

Supporting the business in reviewing the effectiveness of controls, mitigation strategies or improvement plans across Questbank.

Supporting key stakeholders in the development of risk scenarios that can be executed to minimize future losses to Questbank.

Working collaboratively within ORM to identify, monitor and report on operational risk incidents, issues, trends and outcomes to leadership.

Researching and sharing knowledge of latest operational risk management and resiliency techniques and practices across the team including the use of proprietary tools and artificial intelligence.

Championing the alignment of operational risk management methodologies and practices amongst the other areas of operational risk & resilience including business continuity management, third party risk management, fraud risk management and IT & Cyber risk management.

Managing the development of training and testing programs to provide assurance of operational resilience to key risks and threats.

Developing strong working relationships across Questbank with a focus on helping identify potential emerging risks, material issues, and risk trends.

Hold a University degree, preferably in a business, risk management or compliance discipline
-
Have 3+ years of specialized ORM experience and 2+ years of experience in other risk disciplines (e.g. Cyber & IT Risk, Business Continuity, Enterprise Risk)

Have industry experience within financial services / fintech
-
Have experience within a second line risk function, preferably Operational Risk
-
Are a creative thinker who has designed, implemented and operationalized custom end to end solutions
-
Are experienced in operational risk management frameworks, tools including risk assessments, operational loss reporting and scenario testing
-
Have strong organizational skills, with the ability to effectively manage competing requirements
-
Have strong project management skills with the ability to effectively manage and prioritize competing demands
-
Are able to adapt to internal and external changes and deploy flexible approaches to reach desired outcomes

Are a proactive self-starter with an ability to work autonomously

Are a team player that can positively contribute to high performing teams

Can synthesize technical information and report in a clear and concise manner

Are proficient in the use of Google Workspace products (Docs, Slides, Forms and Sheets)

Have working knowledge and experience with relevant areas of risk including IT & Cyber, Business Continuity, Financial, Privacy, and Compliance

Have strong working knowledge of FI regulations (OSFI, CIRO, FCAC, etc.)

Have a solid understanding of banking, mortgage and investment operations

Compensation Information:
-
Base salary range: $105,000 - $120,000
-
The final compensation package will be commensurate with the successful candidate's experience, skills, and geographic location (Canada). It includes a comprehensive benefits plan and a competitive incentive (bonus) program for Full-Time Permanent roles.
